Student records are maintained in the Special Services Office in hard copy for one year after a student graduates or leaves the district. They are then retained on microfilm which is considered to be a stable records preservation media for maintaining permanent records.
There is no fee to obtain a copy of student records or transcripts.
All records and transcripts hand carried by individuals are considered unofficial records. Official records/transcripts are sent directly from the Waynesville School District to the forwarding organization.
Missouri school districts legally have five business days to respond to requests for records or transcripts, and two days to request them. Our goal is to respond within 1-2 days of the request, though during peak times this may not be possible.
Records for students transferring to another K-12 school district must be requested in writing from the forwarding school. Requests for records may be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to the Special Services Office.
Due to the stipulations of FERPA, the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act, transcripts for individuals over the age of 18 must be requested by the individual and cannot be released to a parent or guardian unless the student or former student provides written permission.
In order to send a transcript, a written request must be submitted. Requests can be sent to the Special Services Office by mail, fax, or e-mail. Transcripts can be sent to individuals, colleges, military, or employers. Official transcripts can only be sent directly from our office to the college/military. Any transcripts sent to or picked up by individuals will be considered unofficial. Individuals may pick up a copy of their unofficial transcript in person by showing ID.
To request a transcript, please complete the "Transcript Request Form".
(Directions for completing: Fill out the Transcript Request Form. We do require a signature so you will need to print the request, sign your name, & then mail, fax or e-mail the request to the Special Services Office. Please note, we do not accept electronic signatures. "Attn:" stands for attention; if a certain department or individual needs to receive your transcript this is where you would document the department or individual's name.)
Please send record & transcript requests to Eileen Walker in the Special Services Office or contact her directly for any questions you may have.
